vBNS Featured in the Open House of the NCHC
In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the National Science Council, the NCHC held its first Open House to the populace on April 28th and 29th. Featured in the two-day events were many exhibits manned by the Center's staffs. Some exhibits were geared to the laymen. Visitors were attracted by the hardware facilities, the videos, PC clusters and by Virtual Reality, as displayed on the ImmersaDesk. One booth was set up to showcase vBNS, which is a project the NCHC spearheaded. The amalgamation of high-performance computing and high-speed communications will be the focus of the Center's new direction. It was also a day for the user community. Scientists and researchers were there to present accomplishments borne out of the resources that the Center provides.
