Abstract
We
are at a stage of uncertainty, for we are uncertain of what exact
impact the information technology will bring to future education.
But one thing we are sure is that there will be numerous network
learning models emerging in the near future. This talk discusses
four spaces of possible future network learning models, namely,
community-based learning, structural knowledge learning, complex
problem learning, and future classroom learning. The concepts and
ideas underlying this paper are the results of prolonged discussion
of a number of researchers across Taiwan on a project called "Learning
Technology: Social Learning and its Applications -- from Taiwan
to the World." We believe that, besides providing a glimpse of the
picture of what will be happening in the coming years about network
education, exploration and experimentation of models in these spaces
will advance learning technology development as well as build up
theories of cognition and evaluation of learning. In particular,
we'll discuss the development of a web-site called EduCities, a
test-bed or platform to support experiments of some described network
learning models.
